Bishop Richard Lennon of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland joined by two Eastern Rite Bishops, the Most Reverend John Kudrek of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma and the Most Reverend John Burra of the Ukrainian Catholic Diocese of Parma celebrated Mass in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist as the culmination of the U.S. Bishops’ “Fortnight for Freedom.” More than 800 attended.
The two-week period was devoted to prayer and action opposing the federal healthcare law recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. The provision of the law in question requires religious institutions to pay for healthcare coverage contrary to their faith beliefs such as abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization and contraception.
