Class of 2012 receives many awards

There were awards galore along with the pomp and circumstance at the graduation exercises for eighth graders in St. Paul’s Class of 2012 Monday evening in the church.

Tim Longfellow played for the processional while graduates marched up the center aisle. There was also the traditional rose ceremony as graduates distributed roses and hugs to
teachers, parents and grandparents.

Seven students received scholarships. Michelle Chang and Alexandria Joyner received scholarships to Our Lady of the Elms, Allison Bachmann and Samuel Smith to Archbishop Hoban and Brian Heller to St. Vincent. Regina Neugebauer received the Irish Opportunity scholarship and Henry Riegger the Donna Ray memorial scholarship

Allison Bachmann received the Womanhood Award and Henry Riegger the Manhood Award. Citizenship Awards were presented to Nadia Timofeev and Samuel Smith. Christian Leadership Awards were given to Regina Neugebauer and Marcus Bender.

Given Presidential Education Awards for achievement in Iowa Basic Tests were Allison Bachmann, Marcus Bender, Michelle Chang, Alexandriai Joyner, Regina Neugebauer and Nadia Timofeev,

Ryan Canan received an Award of Merit for service on the AAA School Safety Patrol and Nadia Timofeev was honored as state winner in the Knights of Columbus Substance Abuse Poster Contest.

Speeches were given by Michelle Chang, Student Council president, and Henry Riegger, class president.  Reflections were given by Madalyne Peters and Nadia Timofeev.  Diplomas were presented by the pastor, Fr. Ralph Thomas.

Graduates were greeted in the Parish Activity Center after the ceremonies.  A photo booth was set up by St. Paul PTO which arranged the reception.

Oh my gosh, here are pictures of the graduating class. Are we breaking the rules by posting their names and indicating who won those awesome awards. Oh please God help us.
