Remembering Mothers: Mass at Holy Cross

Holy Cross Cemetery was busy on Sunday for Mother’s Day.  Many, including a number from St. Paul Parish, attended the Mass for Mothers at 11 `a.m. in the Mausoleum. Fr. Thomas McGovem, pastor emeritus of St. Matthew Church, celebrated Mass and gave a homily on mothers and love.

The Mass was in memory of those whose children and mothers have passed away. A basket containing Mass intentions for mothers was on the altar. Each person attending received a flower to place on the grave of a loved one or take home.

Caryn Armbruster, former organist at St. Paul, was song leader for the Mass.

There also will be a prayer service at Holy Cross on  Thursday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. for families who have lost a loved one. Deacon Tony DeGracia will facilitate the service. If you would like, please bring a picture of your loved ones.

All Masses at St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday were for the intentions of mothers and grandmothers.

Holy Cross on July 7 will be celebrating its 100th year anniversary wth a Mass, music and refreshments. Details will be announced here later.
