Bridgestone to benefit St. Vincent de Paul
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Diocese of Cleveland has partnered with the Bridgestone Invitational to benefit from the sale of grounds tickets, August 1-5, at Firestone Country Club. You get a ticket for more than half off (A $45 ticket for $20) and 75 percent of your purchase goes to St. Vincent de Paul. Proceeds will benefit the four  Diocesan food pantries/clothing distribution centers (Ozanam Centers). Bible study group at Nativity plans shrine pilgrimage

The Women’s Bible Study at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Parish is sponsoring a pilgrimage on Thursday, June 7, to Bellevue, Ohio to visit the Sorrowful Mother Shrine. There will be a Mass and lunch. Then on to Carey, Ohio to visit the shrine of Our Lady of Consolation with a guided tour and devotions. The group will leave Nativity at 7 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. Cost (all inlusive) is $39. First Friday Club program for June 1

Andrea Smith Shappell, from the University of Notre Dame will speak at the First Friday club luncheon at noon Friday, June 1, at the University of Akron Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill. The topic is “The Impact of Summer Service Projects on Students”. Smith Shappell graduated from Notre Dame in 1979 with a degree in American Studies and received a master's degree in theology in 1985. The cost of the luncheon is $15.  Doors open at 11:15 a.m. Prepaid reservations can be made by sending a check to the First Friday Club of Greater Akron, 795 Russell Ave., Akron, Ohio 44307.
