Of all the things that the bishop said the one thing that stuck out in my mind was his statement that Northeast Ohio has been losing Catholics. Did he think that closing parishes was going to solve this? I know that many folks from these closed parishes have yet to find another parish to call home. St. Paul's gained a few from St. John's and St. Mary's. St. Andrew the Apostle gained some from Sts. Cyril and Methodis and St. George. However, the many that are still out there need a home. How do we reach them. Perhaps Catholics Returning Home. I don't think so as that is not what that program is all about. What a shame. Furthermore, the diocese is still not in the black.

Those who want to go to church will and those who place more value in a structure will probably never come back. The Holy Spirit is shaking the branches, how many are strong enough in their faith to hang on.

With the recent changes in the mass all the parishes are on equal footing in my opinion. Those parishes that are absorbing new parishioners need to change too.

We need to carefully look at the traditions of those parishes that have closed, i.e. music, Holy Name and Ladies Guilds, parish events and such and see what we can do to incorporate them into our own parish traditions, thus making sure those coming in feel more at home.
