Decorating the church for Christmas is always a labor of love. The narthex was decorated Thursday and the church today after the 8:30 a.m. Mass.
The usual poinsettias and figures of Mary and Joseph in front of the altar were enhanced by the Bethlehem scene backdrop in the window behind the altar. New this year, next to the pulpit, are a Christmas candle and wreath surrounced by poinsettias.
In the narthex is the crib and the usual trees, wreaths and flowers. One of the three wisemen (kings) was in the manger scence and the other two were in the halls on the north and south end. Dave Nesline climbed the large stepladder to hang the backdrop and star for the crib.
Completing the decorating were Linda Bruce, Sandi Denholm, Millie Hilton, Ellen McAvoy, Rosemary Mileski and Dottie Thoerig,Dora Weigand and Frank Solinski.

Well the same people are decorating again this year. No requests were made for help to decorate. As a young person, I have this kind of talent. I have asked several times to be apart of this. I never get called. Gee I wonder why. However, St. Paul's loses out on my talent and I take it elsewhere. When is St. Paul's going to accept the fact that young people have a great deal to offer. After all it is our parish too. It just doesn't belong to the old folks. Yet every year it is the old folks who get called upon to do the work. What a shame.
The candlestick holding the Christ candle within the Advent wreath was made by parishioner Andy Roman, and donated to Blessed Sacrament chapel circa 1960. There were six of them to replace the first itty-bitty ones. As with so many things, the Pastor and sacristans were delighted to have something beautiful for the altar.
Do not wait for an invitation. All you have to do is show up. Let us know if your help is refused.
You can't show up when you do not know when and the time. This is important to know. I would have shown up this year but didn't know the day or time. How conveninet for St. Paul's.
There certainly is no ulterior motive for not announcing when and where. We like to take photos of the decorating so we just ask when. Hopefully next year we will remember to post the info for you on the blog.
That would be very nice thank you.
