There is a strong faith and religious sense among St. Paul Parishioners and we should all be proud and encouraged to be part of our faith community. Christ is at the center all we do and strive for here. It is his grace that leads us, heals us, brings u0\s home to all that is good and life-giving. It is his grace that leads one day home to heaven.

Can we tell if attendance was higher during Masses when the choir sings or the same?

If we go by this counting then is it worth it to have a 7:30 mass? I would think the cost of the utilities for theis mass alone far outweigh the attendance. In today's economy, we might have to cut back especially with only having one priest to take care of everything/

Some attend this early Mass before going to work. Fr. Berardi says it regularly and enjoys it.

St. Paul today we are talking about the weekend Sunday Mass not the weekday mass. By the way how do you know what Fr. Berardi thinks?

Unofortunately people also work on Sunday and prefer this Mass. I do talk to Fr. Berardi. Enough on this subject.

There is a misprint in today's bulletin, it says for Sunday Oct 9, 9AM mass only 22 people showed up.

Yes. Notice our table shows it at 229. Apparently the third digit got dropped off. Will call rectory Monday to be certain that is correct.

I simply meant to imply that in these tough economic times many churchs have had to make adjustments to their mass schedules becuase of the rising cost of utilities. While I do understand that some people work on Sunday's you have to look at the whole picture from a perspective that doesn't always give the best outlook. By the way, I spoke with Fr. Berardi after the mass this am and he stated to me that he is tired of doing the 7:30 mass and would enjoy presiding over a different mass once in awhile. Oh I forgot, you do not want me to speak any more on the matter. The next time I am asked to increase my offertory giving I will remember the less then 100 that attend this Sunday mass.

Cannot argue with your comments.
Luke 18:20

May i ask why you quoted Luke 18:20?

Read the verse and then check the daily mass attendance. Do you think we should cancel all daily masses?

Saint Paul TODAY said...

Well how about Matthew 18:20:
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

While you need to have mass, there does seem to be some ways to cut back and help the parish to conserve on its budget. As a parish, we strive to make sure that we are offering the best possible mass schedule. However, some things are not worth doing. What did these people do prior to having a 7:30 mass? They went to a different mass.

Well I swed to drive to Barberton before St. Paul had a Saturday Mass. I like to go to Mass daily. Why do you all wnat to cancel Masses? Show nme how much you will save? Lots of other ways to save besides canceling Masses. What is the church for?

I do not blieve that the folks are asking the church to cancel masses. It is being misundestood. They are simply suggesting that in times like we are all experiencing that cutbacks need to be made. I go to a church where we have only one Sunday mass because of the attendance. I keep in touch with St. Paul's as I used to go there years ago. I didn't like it at first but have seen the results in how the church has saved. It is a shame that when a suggestion is made so many get so darned frustrated about it. If you think that there are other ways to save I didn't see any of your suggestions.
