While those attending the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday are listening to the reading of Scripture, there is another Circle of Worship taking place in Room 111 of the school. Young children are taken from church to Room 111 where they enjoy hearing the Word in words they can better understand. They join hands in a circle of prayer and sit in a circle to learn more about their faith. This week they learned about the priesthood, All Saint Day and all Souls Day They don colorful name tags and read from a weekly leaflet. You had to there. It was inspiring. Catechetical leader Charlotte "Shelly" Hertzig says a similar program is being planned for across the hall for older children.Liturgy of the word catechists are Jennifer Teffner and Stephanie Ulery

When I was little we didn't have anything like this. I listened to the same readings my parents listened too and I turned out OK. I think it's important to show children that as adults we are witnesses to the Word of God and that their presence enriches the Mass.
It is so very nice to see that the Liturgy of the Word for children is catching on. I understand that they really enjoy hearing about Jesus and the life that he lived. I wish this had been available when my children were this age.
