Fr. Kevin P. Elbert, parochial vicar of St. Mary's Church in Hudson, told mmbers of the Akron Serra Club on Tuesday, that he was a late comer to the priesthood after starting out on a long voyage of finding his spiritual calling in life.
Fr. Elbert 45, had taught martial arts at one time and later had studied law and had entered into practice but had not found a feeling of self satisfaction in his life's work at that time.
Fr. Elbert then entered the seminary and was ordained on May 15, 2010. He was then assigned on June 6 to St. Mary--his first assignment. Among his duties, he became involved in the Christian youth ministry of the parish.
Fr. Elbert spoke at the regular luncheon meeting of the Akron Serra Club at the Martin Center on the University of Akron campus.
District Serra Governor Ed. Ptacek was also a guest and spoke on some of the upcoming events for Serrans
