Fr. Groody to speak to First Friday Club

Rev, Daniel Groody, CSC, an assciate professor in the thelogy department at the University of Notre Dame, will speak at the noon luncheon Friday of the First Friday Club of Akron at the Martin Center on the University of Akron campus.

Father Groody is director of the Center for Latino Spirituality and Culture at the Institute of Latino Studies at the university. Drawing on years of work in Latin America, particularly along the U.S.-Mexico border, he has authored various books and articles on the topics of Immigration, Spirituality and Justice. He has worked with the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the World Council of Churches and the Vatican on issues of theology, globalization and immigration.

Professor Groody holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Notre Dame in the Great Books Program, a master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology and a doctorate in theology from the Graduate Theological Union. He is also the executive producer of various films and documentaries.
