Getting that diploma is reward enough, but there were many other awards to follow for the Class of 2011 in the church Wednesday evening.
The highly regarded Manhood and Womanhood awards were presented to Jeremy Swords an Sydney Sloan. The highest recognition awards are tributes to graduates who clearly exemplify the standards of Catholic education in the areas of spirituality, academic excellence and leadership. The award includes a $100 check to each from the St. Paul PTO.
The AAA School Safety Award of Merit for service to the safety patrol were presented by principal Brodbeck to Matthew Bisesi, Marco Colant, Scott Johnson and Nicholas McInturff. A certificate and $100 savings bond was given to Scott Johnson as captain.
CYO Outstanding Scholar Athlete awards were presented by Judson Hartman to Matthew Bisesi and Sydney Sloan.
Christian Leadership Awards were presented by principal Brodbeck to Shannon Lloyd and Marco Colant. Classmates and teachers of these honorees vote to award the honor to two graduates who exemplify leadership qualities through academics and to their faith.
Citizenship Awards, given to graduates who have given service to the school or parish whenever they have been asked to serve, were presented to Claire Fatica and Cannon Morgan
Presidential Education Awards are given for a minim score of the 90th percentile in math or reading on the Iowa Basic Skills test in Grade 7. A letter signed by President Barack Obama is sent to each recipient. Winners this year are Leanne Casserlie, Faith Chrostowski, Marco Colant and Cannon Morgan.
Archbishop Hoban High School awarded its trustees scholarships to Cameron Krim and Nicholas McInturff.

Dr Frank Mellion Scholarship: Marco Colant
Henkel Family Scholarship: Marco Colant
Jim Kelly Memorial Scholarship: Marco Colant
Irish Academic Scholarship: Cannon Morgan
Ralph and Florence Bernard Scholarship: Jeremy Swords
Akron Serra Club president Rudy DiDonato and vice presidents Ron McAvoy and Maggie Walker were at the graduation to present certificates to graduates for service on the altar. Receiving awards as lectors were Michael Altomare, Marco Conant and Patricia Rollins. Awards for altar servers went to Marco Conant, Scott Johnson, Isabelle Miller and Jeremy Swords.
