Bishop asks second collection for Japan

Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon, in response to a request from Catholic Relief Services, is asking the 174 parishes to offer a special, second collection this coming weekend 19-20 March 2011; or if more preparation time is required, the weekend of 26-27 March 2011.

The funds will be sent to Catholic Relief Services who will transmit these donations to CARITAS JAPAN, the humanitarian organization of the Japanese Catholic Conference. The funds would benefit the people of Japan following the massive earthquake and 33-foot tsunami which struck their nation in recent days.

Donors are advised to make checks payable to their individual parish (memo-Japan Relief). The parishes are then being asked to submit a totaled single check to the Diocese Finance office made payable to "Diocese of Cleveland.".

Please keep the people of Japan and those affected in the U.S., in your prayers.
