She was born on February 8, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late William
and Laura Wallace. Sister Laura entered the Sisters of St. Dominic in Akron (now the Dominican Sisters of Peace) on September 8, 1938 from St. Joseph Parish in Maximo, Ohio and made religious profession on July 7, 1940. She was in her 70th year of religious profession.Sister's ministries took her to various parishes and schools which included St. Dominic, Youngstown; St. Joseph, Alliance; Immaculate Conception, Ravenna; St. Felicitas, Cleveland; Our Lady of the Elms Elementary and St. Vincent, Akron. For three years she served as principal of St. Hilary School in Akron. Her longest assignment was
teaching first grade from 1969-90 at St. Joseph in Mantua, Ohio.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Our Lady of the Elms Convent, 1230 W. Market St., Akron from 3 to 6 p.m. with a Wake Service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the Elms Chapel on Monday, January 3 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
