4 complete second 100-mile Mileage mark

Among Mileage Club walkers who were honored are (from left) Angel LaPresta,
Alysa LaPresta, Hanna Lidderdale, Austin Gayhart and Nathan Dort.

Four St. Paul students have completed their second 100-mile walk in St. Paul’s Mileage Club.  The foursome and three others were honored at the student Mass on February 5

Completing their second 100-mile walk were Nathan Dort, Austin Gayhart, Angel LaPresta and Adam Bugaski.

Students who completed their first 100-mile walk and were inducted into the Mileage Club Hall of Fame were Isabella Amedeo, Alyssa LaPresta and Hanna Lidderdale. Their “footprints” are enshrined on the Hall of Fame bulletin board  to signify that each has walked at least 100 miles in the St. Paul walking club.

It takes 1,600 trips around Jernkins Gym to total 100 miles.

The Mileage Club, coordinated by Christine Ehasz,  is open to both students and parishioners. Four days a week (Monday through Thursday) students arrive early at St. Paul's John Jenkins Gym to exercise by walking for fitness and fun with the Mileage Club. Cones are set up around the perimeter of the gym floor. Walking around the gym five times equals a quarter of a mile. Mileage Markers (yellow cards) keep track of each student’s progress. For each five miles (or eight kilometers) walked, the child is rewarded with a Toe Token (brightly colored plastic foot) to put on a chain.

Jenkins Gymnasium is open for adult walkers ever Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 to 10 a. m.  The walking for adults is an outgrowth of the student Mileage Club which meets before classes.
