The holiday season is s approaching us, and as we plan to celebrate together with family and friends I think of how we, associated with Saint Paul Parish, are family too.
As Pastor of St. Paul Parish, I see a more concerned effort
among parishioners to build a community of faith where people of this neighborhood can share friendship and values that promote trust and respect. Our Parish Council recently welcomed new members who have chosen the theme and goal of hospitality for 2010. Members of our Social Justice Committee have been collecting items that will help to keep the homeless warm this winter while parishioners enjoy preparing nutritious meals to be served for families and persons in need at the Peter Maurin Center on Street.
Our school, now under the leadership of Principal Robert Brodbeck, who is a Firestone Park native,
is in full operation with 230 students. We are expending great effort educating our youth in the "Light of Christ."
Many say and we agree that St. Paul Church and our school is a visible, positive influence in our neighborhood. It serves as a definite anchor for the well-being and stability of our community.
I would like to invite your and your loved ones to come and celebrate our "relationship in Christ" this season. Please check the enclosed bulletin for our schedule of Mass and worship. You are most welcome. We would love to see you.
Please remember us and the mission we share. We appreciate your support in helping to bless and encourage all who come to us searching for God's grace and peace. While we face difficult economic times, we must recognize our many blessings and give thanks this season.
May the love of God fill your heart and home this Christmas Season. May Jesus, the Word of God, comfort and inspire you anew this season.
Peace and love in Christ,
