St. Paul parish was among those given special recognition by the Diocesan Social Action Office and Council of Global Solidarity for helping to provide clean water to the inhabitants of Tanzania and Sudan. Parishioner Chuck Deger also received a certificate of appreciation for his contributions to the Social Action Office.

A story titled “Faitfhful from the Cleveland Dioceses reach out to Africa with water” in the July 24 issue of the Cleveland Universe Bulletin” reported on the water projects.

Many parishes, religious communities, foundations and individuals have been instrumental in the outcome of this small miracle that is benefiting so many needy individuals in Africa.
The Narumu-Usari Schools Water for Life Project has realiz
ed full funding in the amount of$130,000. To date the Isaac Wells Project has received some $81,293 that has been used to construct five wells and the remaining $14,602 will be used to attract other funding do dig five additional wells.

A spirit of compassion and generosity that has made it possible to dig four water wells in Duluit Bol and one near Darfur in Sudan. These wells insure that some 50,000 men, women and children in the Diocese of Rumbek have access to clean water. This same spirit of compassion and generosity is making it possible for some I, I 00 in
dividuals at the NarumuUsari Schools in the Diocese of Moshi Tanzania (students, teachers, clergy, etc.) to benefit from clean water.
