Karen S. Fagan (nee Syroid), 64, died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born October 20, 1944 to John and Jane (Burger) Syroid in Akron and had been a lifelong resident. She was a 1962 graduate of Garfield High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmo
ther and friend. She was a gift to all who met her. Memories of her frequent and contagious laugh will be cherished by everyone.
Karen is survived by her dedicated husband of 44 years, Michael J. Fagan; children, Michael P. (Brenda) Fagan, Amy (James) Sloan and Sean F. (Chrissie) Fagan, all of Akron. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren, Michael S. Fagan, Sydney Sloan, James Sloan, and Liam Fagan; special friend, Janet Helms; numerous, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John S. Syroid.
The family extends a special thank you to Bath Manor, Dr. Kanter, Summa Western Reserve Hospital, and the nurses and aides who lovingly cared for our wife and mother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address). The family will receive friends Friday, 4 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment of the cremains will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
