Six young ladies from the St. Paul Class of 2009, who received their diplomas Wednesday evening, returned the next day to pay a stunning farewell tribute to their principal, Mrs. Rosemary Capotosto who is also leaving the school.

The sextet performed a song and dance routine using the “Candy Man Can” theme from the Drama Club’s performance this year of Willy Wonka.

The dancers were Alyse Bachmann, Natalie Bender, Noelle Colant, Lexi Krim, Erin Liggett and Abby Pilgram. All six received special awards at the graduation the evening before.

The dancers formed in rows, in a line and in circles for the routine and at the end went up on the altar to give a goobye hug to Mrs. Capotosto who has been principal at
St. Paul since 1999. It was a fitting finale for all of them who will be leaving St. Paul but cherishing memories.

Mrs. Capotosto also received a gift and a blessing from the Rev. Fr. Ralph Thomas whose homily as always stressed the importance of the school to South Akron.

Fr. Thomas also presented congratuations to Mrs. Jeanette Mchel, third grade teacher, who is retiring after 22 years as a teacher at St. Paul.

The farewells followed the awarding of Academic Achievement Awards to students in grades 1-7. Eighth graders received their achiement awards at graduation. See a list of students who achieved acaemid excellence in all four quarters and were honored at a breakfast Tuesday morning.
