50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AT CATHEDRAL JULY 26
The annual 50h annual wedding anniversary celebration is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2009 at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Mass will be at 2:30 p.m.. Principal celebrant will be Bishop Richard G. Lennon.
CLASS FOR NEW PARENTS AT QUEEN OF HEAVEN JULY July 28
A free class for expecting or new parents is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, from 7 t o 9 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Parish, 1800 Steese Rd., Green. Many questions about pregnancy, breastfeeding and natural family planning will be answered in a single class. Seating is limited so register early with Ben & Kay Metzler, 330-896-3350 or email nfpteacher@hotmail.com. Babysitting will be available so you can come as a couple.
TALK ON PARISH RESTRUCTURING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 4
Rick Krivanka, director of the diocesan Pastoral Planning Office, will speak on "Parish Transitions: Responding to Difficult Changes" on Tuesday, August 4, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church Father Waldeisen Hall in Kenmore. Since all parishes in the diocese are directly or indirectly affected by restructuring, parishioners are urged to attend. There will be an opportunity for small group sharing, including time for discussion with Krivanka after his talk.
FIRESTONE PARK COMMUNITY CHURCH PICNIC IS AUGUST 2
Several churches from the South Akron/Firestone Park neighborhood are sponsoring a “Community Church Picnic” at Firestone Park on Sunday, August 12, beginning at noon.. There will be games, entertainment and ball games at the ball field.Lots of fun for families and an opportunity to meet some new friends, so please plan to attend. Bishop Richard G. Lennon will celebrate a Mass for couples married 25, 40 and 50 years or more in the years 2006-2009 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, at St, John the Baptist Church.
