Prayer circle for Eucharist highlights discussion

Sr Marie Ellen Kuhel, OSU (DRE), pastoral associate of St. Eugene parish in Cuyahoga Falls, again led the monthly discussion of the letters of St. Paul on Wednesday evening in the church . There were 26 parishioners at the meeting along with St. Paul catechetical leader Shelly Hertzig.

Sr. Marie's presentation for this second monthly session again emphasized the need of Christians to live their lives and to see the world as Paul taught. Baptism provides us with all we need, she said, and we are all saints even if we have not let the promise shine forth. There was a little more participation in the discussions during this session.

Our pastor, the Rev. Fr. Ralph W. Thomas, joined the group and invited them to form a circle of prayer around the altar when the session ended. He then distributed Communion to each.

The presentations and discussions on the Letters and writings of St. Paul are scheduled on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the church throughout the Pauline Year commemorating the 2000th year of the birth of St. Paul. The jubilee year ends June 29, 2009.

Also for the Pauline Year, on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., there will be a Mass and Novena in honor of the parish’s patron saint. A Prayer of St. Paul the Apostle also is found on prayer cards in each pew. The prayer is said at each weekend Mass.

Portions of St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans are used during the Second Reading at Sunday Mass during July and August. These readings will be posted on the blog each Friday.
