Boosters discuss gym rental, fund raising

Rental of John Jenkins Gym and fund-raising projects were discussed at the St. Paul Booster Club meeting Sunday afternoon in Boeke Hall.

Booster Club president Tony Bachmann reviewed minutes from the February 24 board meeting. He said gym codes and key lock box will be changed and gym rental fees and practices were discussed. Maintenance and utility costs must be determined to set a fair rate for gym rentals. The club wants to cover costs and make it slighly profitable without gouging. Tom Breiding will be contacted about expense of utilities and maintenance. There is a need, he said, to define “active” parishioner. Various fund-raising projects were discussed including a golf outing, Monte Carlos, Reverse Raffle, Night at the Races, shirt sales, concession stand and phone promotions. There is a need to get the 300 Club membership up to 300, he said.

A 300 Club report submitted by 300 treasurer Gerard Colant showed approximately 120 members paid to date with an accunt balance of $10,493.89.

Boosters treasurer Teresa Garey submitted a report showing $6,709.44 checking balance, $75.70 savings balance for a total $6,786.57 in the account.

New Business:

--Gym Rental fees will be submitted to Fr. Thomas for a set hourly rate. Gene Hertzig mentioned that a straight forward fee would make it easier to keep things fair from one organization to another and make it easier to keep records of use and amounts owed.

--Virtus needs to be updated by all coaches whp should sign the form and return to the rectory to Diane Clute.

--A St. Paul alumni list is available to us if we need further contacts.

--Bulletin notices should go out for CYO high school and adult sports.

--Hardship was discussed with Fr. Thomas. We will get some policy ideas together and submit them to Fr. Thomas. There will not be a scholarship/sponsorship program, but a payment program would be best. If the financial hardship is great Fr. Thomas will speak with the family.

Attending the meeting were board members:Tony Bachmann, Theresa Garey, Jill Joyner and Jo Shoup and members Cherie Couglin, Gene Hertzig and Fr. Thomas. Absent were: Gary Chrostowski, Gerard Colant, John Testa & Alex Kuzmik.

The next Booster Club meeting will be Sunday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in Boeke Hall
